  • Standard & Poor's Announces The S&P/TSX Canadian Bond Index Rebalancing Report For September 2005

    Standard & Poor’s has completed the monthly rebalancing of the S&P/TSX Canadian Bond Index. According to index methodology, the universe of Canadian bonds is exhaustively reviewed to reflect changes in par amount and term to existing index constituents. Qualifying new issues are added to the index and existing constituents that no longer meet the criteria for inclusion are removed.

    Standard & Poor's will make the following changes in the S&P/TSX Venture Composite Index after the close of trading on Monday, September 26, 2005: Pelangio Mines Inc. (TSXVN:PLG) will be removed from the index. The company will graduate to trade on the TSX under the same ticker symbol.

    Standard & Poor’s will make the following changes to the S&P 500, S&P SmallCap 600 and S&P REIT Composite indices: Ameriprise Financial Inc. (NYSE:AMPwi) will replace Providian Financial Corp. (NYSE:PVN) in the S&P 500 after the close of trading on Friday, September 30, 2005. Ameriprise is being spun off by S&P 500 constituent American Express Co.
