Dow Jones Indexes said it will conduct a pilot program in which the opening and closing prices of Nasdaq-listed stocks from the American Stock Exchange will be used to calculate the Dow Jones Averages.

According to Standard & Poor's, a leading provider of independent investment research, indices, and ratings, the S&P/Citigroup Broad Market Index (BMI) Global Composite [1] declined 2.63% in April, as the prospect of higher interest rates pushed many stock markets lower. This continues last month's decline for the BMI Global Composite, which measures over 7,500 stocks across 52 countries covering 97% of global market capitalization.

Standard & Poor's will not be calculating index values for the S&P/IFCI and S&P/IFCG Emerging Market Indices on May 31, 2004. Standard & Poor’s has been notified that WM spot exchange rates will not be published on this day. Forex markets will be closed in New York, London and Frankfurt. Index values will be calculated on all other business days.
