Labuan International Financial Exchange Market Cap Reaches Usd12 Billion With The Listing Of Sarawak International Incorporated Notes

The total market capitalisation of Labuan International Financial Exchange (LFX) has reached USD12.09 billion (RM45.3 billion, 1USD=RM3.75 as at 2 August 2005) with the primary listing of USD600 million guaranteed notes issued by Sarawak International Incorporated (SII), a wholly-owned subsidiary of SGOS Capital Holdings Sdn Bhd (SGOS).

KCBT Wheat Futures Open Interest Sets New Record, Tops 92,000

Open interest in the Kansas City Board of Trade hard red winter wheat futures contract has set a new record. At the conclusion of Wednesday’s trading, open interest was at 92,776 contracts, breaking the previous record of 91,261 contracts set on June 21, 2001.

HKEx: Changes Of Designated Securities For Short Selling

The Stock Exchange of Hong Kong Limited, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited (HKEx), announces that with effect from 15 August 2005 (Monday), 14 additional securities will be eligible for short selling and 12 existing designated securities will be removed from the list. The total number of designated securities for short selling will be 272 after the revision.

During The First Trading Day Total Trading Volume Of RTS Index Futures Exceeded 81 Million Rubles

During the first trading day 117 transactions were executed in RTS index futures, the total trading volume equaled 1 759 contracts or 81,6 million rubles. The operations were executed by large and small-scale investors. Trading volume of RTS index futures were inferior only to three leading single stock derivatives (futures and options on RAO "UES of Russia", "Gazprom", and "LUKOil”) and to 3-year Moscow City bonds futures.

Directors Herbert M. Allison, Jr. And Dennis Weatherstone Step Down From New York Stock Exchange Board

The New York Stock Exchange has announced that Herbert M. Allison, Jr. and Dennis Weatherstone have stepped down from the Exchange Board of Directors, effective immediately. Both Messrs. Allison and Weatherstone had expressed a desire not to stand for re-election last April but had agreed to stay on through the key decision making on the proposed merger with Archipelago.

CBOT Fed Watch - August 4 Market Close

In advance of next week's Federal Open Market Committee meeting on August 9, the Chicago Board of Trade will be reporting daily rate change probabilities in the FOMC's federal funds target rate, as indicated by the CBOT 30-Day Federal Funds futures contract. The CBOT 30-Day Federal Funds futures contract is a key benchmark interest rate barometer that reflects the forward overnight effective rate for excess reserves that are traded among commercial banks in the U.S. federal funds market.
