CBOE Seat Sells For New Record Of $1,400,000

The Chicago Board Options Exchange (CBOE) announced that a seat, or membership, was bought last Tuesday, August 15, for a price of $1,400,000. This is a new record seat price at CBOE, surpassing the previous high of $1,375,000, set on April 25, 2006. This most recent seat sale was the fiftieth of the year and the thirty-seventh seat that was sold for at least one million dollars during 2006. The high seat sale for 2005 was $875,000.

Argent Financial Group Announces Launch Of First DIFC-Domiciled Hedge Fund

The first DIFC domiciled hedge fund “The Constans Crescent Investment Fund” was launched today by Argent Financial Group LLP. The fund offers a new investment vehicle to qualified investors in the region and represents the opening of the regulated hedge fund business in the DIFC.

Standard & Poor's Announces Changes In The S&P/TSX Venture Composite Index

Standard & Poor's will make the following changes in the S&P/TSX Venture Composite Index after the close of trading on Monday, August 21, 2006: Spur Ventures Inc. (TSXVN:SVU) will be removed from the index. The company will graduate to TSX and will trade under the same ticker symbol.

SEC Announces Emergency Action To Halt Ongoing Fraud Against Senior Citizens - SEC Seeks Temporary Restraining Orders, Asset Freezes And Accountings

The Securities and Exchange Commission today filed an emergency enforcement action to halt an ongoing fraudulent offering of stock in a company called One Wall Street, Inc. in which the defendants have obtained over $1.6 million from at least 64 investors, most of them senior citizens.

ISD's total operating income was ISK 162 m and operating expenses ISK 92 m for the period January-June 2006, making profit on operations for the first half-year around ISK 70 m. After taking financial items and tax into consideration, profit for the period was ISK 64 m.

ICEX’s total operating income amounted to ISK 313.8 m and operating expenses to ISK 206.8 m. EBIT was thus ISK 107.0 m as compared with ISK 19.6 m in 2005. Net financial income amounted to ISK 101.9 m but was ISK 7.0 m for the same period in 2005. Profit was ISK 172.9 m for the six months as compared to ISK 21.7 m for the first half of 2005. Annualised ROE was 128.7%% as compared with 19.4% for the same period in 2005.
