JSE Securities Exchange South Africa Becomes First Exchange Globally To Adopt Standardised Reporting System - System Enables Improved Investment Decision-Making For Fund Managers, Analysts & Investors
On December 10, the JSE Securities Exchange South Africa (JSE) became the first major stock exchange in the world to report its financial statements according to International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) using eXtensible Business Reporting Language (XBRL). XBRL is an electronic format or language that aims to streamline and simplify the flow, preparation and analysis of financial reports and accounting data.

HKEx: Temporary Slowdown In Stock Quote Updates
A hardware component (CPU) in the price dissemination system failed at 11:02 am. The backup CPU took over immediately and automatically. During the recovery period, there was temporary slowdown in stock quote updates disseminating through AMS/3 and the Stock Exchange’s information dissemination system. The entire recovery was completed at 11:30 am. The problem was seen as minor as brokers remained able to retrieve the latest stock quotes through other functions in AMS/3.

From 2005 RTS Index Will Be Calculated Online
From 2005 RTS Stock Exchange will calculate RTS Index online. It was a decision of the RTS Board of Directors from 28 October 2004. Currently RTS Index is calculated every half an hour as weighted by capitalization and based on the last hour trades.

Several renowned companies and Clearing Banks (Atel Trading AG, EnBW Trading GmbH, E.ON Sales & Trading GmbH, ING BHF-Bank AG, RWE Trading GmbH, Stadtwerke Düsseldorf AG, Trianel European Energy Trading GmbH, Vattenfall Europe Trading GmbH) have participated in the simulation under real-life conditions.

Dow Jones Indexes Changes China Indexes Components
Dow Jones Indexes today announced the results of the fourth regular quarterly review in 2004 for Dow Jones China Indexes (Dow-China Indexes). The component changes in the Dow Jones China 88 (Dow-China 88), Dow Jones China Total Market (Dow-China Total Market), Dow Jones Shanghai (Dow-Shanghai), Dow Jones Shenzhen (Dow-Shenzhen) Index, and Dow Jones CBN China 600 Index will be effective on January 4, 2005.

Tokyo Commodity Exchange To Introduce FIX Protocol
On December 10, 2004, TOCOM introduced FIX (Financial Information eXchange) protocol, and rolled out FIX-compliant trading gateway terminals. The introduction of the FIX protocol, which is an international messaging standard for electronic exchange of financial transactions, will improve TOCOM's market accessibility.
