Boston Options Exchange: Successful Spiders Launch And Record Weekly Volume
BOX Completed the first week of trading of options on Standard and Poor's Depository Receipts ("SPY") with a total of 203,780 contracts traded for an average daily volume of 40,756 and an estimated market share for the week of 25% For the second consecutive week, BOX set a new record for total trading volume in a week with 1,192,450 contracts traded the five days ending January 14, 2005, and average daily volume of 238,490. UK’s Financial Services Authority Fines Hemscott Investment Analysis Ltd £50,000 For Misleading Financial Promotions
The Financial Services Authority (FSA) today fined share tipping company Hemscott Investment Analysis Limited £50,000 for the production and distribution of misleading financial promotions. The FSA found that a promotion using the slogan "We even make a bear market all soft & cuddly" had completely by-passed Hemscott's approval procedures and selectively quoted past recommendations by the firm, using only the best performing recommendations rather than a cross section of all recommendations.
