  • NYMEX To Purchase 19 Percent Stake In Optionable

    NYMEX Holdings, Inc. (NYSE:NMX), the parent company of the New York Mercantile Exchange, Inc., announced today that it will purchase a 19 percent stake in Optionable, Inc. (OTCBB:OPBL), a leading provider of natural gas and other energy derivatives brokerage services, from its three founding stockholders. In addition to the acquisition, the transaction includes certain cooperative technology initiatives and the issuance to NYMEX of a warrant which would permit it to increase its stake.

  • NYMEX To Change Position Limits, Reportable Levels For Platinum Futures Contract

    The New York Mercantile Exchange, Inc. announced today that it will decrease the expiration month position limit for its platinum futures contract to 150 contracts from 200 contracts, effective at the close of business tomorrow. Clearing members must identify customers with a position of 25 or more contracts to the Exchange.

  • CFTC Adopts Rule Requiring FCMs To Become Members Of A Registered Futures Association

    The Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) announced that it has finalized an amendment to regulation 170.15(a) that will require persons that are fully registered as a futures commission merchant (FCM), regardless of whether they are required to be so registered, to become members of a registered futures association (RFA). The action will further the goals of industry self-regulation and Commission oversight, a cornerstone of the Commodity Futures Modernization Act of 2000, by ensuring tha
