Borsa Italiana (Italian Stock Exchange), Cassa di Compensazione e Garanzia and Monte Titoli have signed the Code of Conduct concerning security clearing and settlement services, which has been submitted today to Mr. Charles McCreevy, Commissioner in charge of the Internal Market and Services in Brussels.

Clearing And Settlement: Commissioner McCreevy Welcomes Industry's New Code Of Conduct

The European Commission has welcomed the clearing and settlement industry's new Code of Conduct ("Code"), and considers it an important first step towards an integrated and efficient post-trading market in the EU. The measures detailed in the Code aim at enhancing transparency and increasing competition in the post-trading sector. The signatories of the Code will have to gradually implement these measures, all of which will need to be in place by 1 Januar

Deutsche Börse Suspends Talks with Borsa Italiana

Deutsche Börse has suspended talks with Borsa Italiana about a joint approach for the consolidation of the European exchange landscape. It became clear in the course of the negotiations following the signing of a Letter of Intent that an agreement between the two parties on certain key issues was not achievable in the short term. Deutsche Börse regrets this development, however decided against this background not to pursue the talks further.

Dow Jones Indexes, a leading global index provider, today announced the launch of the Dow Jones Canada Select Growth Index and Dow Jones Canada Select Value Index. The new indexes have been licensed to Barclays Global Investors Canada to underlie two exchange-traded funds (ETFs) expected to start trading this Friday, November 10, 2006 on the Toronto Stock Exchange.
