1. About the Contact for Financial Policies Monitor
 
The FSA has used various measures to seek opinions from financial institutions and the general public regarding financial policies in the past, but financial institutions have pointed out that it is not always easy to express candid opinions when the contact person is a FSA official. In light of such comments, the FSA has established the “Contact for Financial Policies Monitor” through which external experts receive opinions and suggestions as neutral third parties and convey such opinions and suggestions to the FSA for reflection in its financial policies.

• Total Securities market turnover value was S$25.9 billion, up 2% month-on-month (m-o-m) and up 26% year-on-year (y-o-y), over 22 trading days. There were 21 trading days in July 2017 and 22 in August 2016.
• Securities daily average value (SDAV) was S$1.2 billion, down 3% m-o-m and up 26% y-o-y.
• Market turnover value of Exchange Traded Funds (ETFs) was S$221 million, down 15% m-o-m and up 7% y-o-y.
• Market turnover value of structured warrants was S$1.7 billion, up 22% m-o-m and up 101%      y-o-y.
• There were 109 new bond listings, raising S$41.4 billion.
• Total market capitalisation value of 753 listed companies stood at S$1.0 trillion as at end-August 2017.

Bahamas International Securities Exchange Hurricane Closure Procedures

The Bahamas International Securities Exchange Limited (BISX) wishes to inform the public that due to the threat of Hurricane Irma and the issuance a Hurricane Warning for New Providence, BISX’s office will be closed Thursday 7 September 2017 at 12 p.m. Given the unpredictable nature of hurricanes, BISX will remain closed until the hurricane passes.

SEC: Bridget Fitzpatrick Named Chief Litigation Counsel - David Gottesman To Continue As Deputy Chief Litigation Counsel

CFTC Financial Data For Futures Commission Merchants Update

Futures commission merchants (FCMs) and retail foreign exchange dealers (RFEDs) must file monthly financial reports with the CFTC's Division of Swap Dealer and Intermediary Oversight (DSIO) within 17 business days after the end of the month. Selected financial information from these reports is published below. The most recent month-end information generally is added within 12 business days after FCMs and RFEDs file their reports, but occasionally may be added later. For example:  The 17th business day filing “due date" for February 28, 2015 financial reports was March 25, 2015.  The 12 business day target for posting these data was April 10, 2015.
