DGCX Reports Record Monthly Volumes As Shari'ah Spot Gold Continues To Shine

The Dubai Gold and Commodities Exchange (DGCX) witnessed its best month ever, recording volume of 2,163,598 lots valued at over USD 46.11 billion. Throughout May an average of 94,069 contracts traded per day showing year-on-year (YOY) growth of 51%. The world’s only exchange-traded Shari’ah Compliant Spot Gold contract (DGSG) also continued to shine, with over 488 kilograms of gold worth USD 20.72 million executed since its listing on DGCX on March 29th.

Statement By IMF Managing Director Christine Lagarde On Barbados

Ms. Christine Lagarde, Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund, made following statement today:
“As announced by Prime Minister Mottley earlier today, the Barbados economy has been going through significant challenges for some years. The authorities are developing an economic reform plan designed to address these challenges, and they have asked the international community and the International Monetary Fund to assist them as they put the economy back on a path to recovery. An IMF team led by Bert van Selm will be visiting Bridgetown to start discussions on how the Fund can support the authorities’ economic plan. Our ultimate goal is to help Barbados achieve higher living standards and more inclusive growth for the years ahead.”

OCC Cleared Contract Volume Increased Eight Percent In May

EEX Trading Results For May 2018 - EEX Achieves Monthly Record In Phelix-DE Futures And EUA

In May 2018, the European Energy Exchange (EEX) increased volumes on its power derivatives markets by 23% to 306.9 TWh (May 2017: 248.7 TWh) which is the highest volume since March 2017. In the benchmark product for European power trading, the Phelix-DE Future, EEX achieved new monthly record of 170.4 TWh. Furthermore, EEX was able to significantly increase volumes in its markets for Italy (58.4 TWh, +60%), Spain (9.7 TWh, +52%) and the Netherlands (3.2 TWh, +283%). Volumes on the options markets have tripled as against the previous year to 31.7 TWh (May 2017: 10.3 TWh).

US Agencies Issue Final Rulemaking To Shorten Settlement Cycle

The Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) and the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) today issued a final rule to shorten the standard settlement cycle for securities purchased or sold by OCC-supervised and FDIC-supervised institutions. The final rule will require banks to settle most securities transactions within the number of business days in the standard settlement cycle followed by registered broker dealers in the United States unless otherwise agreed to by the parties at the time of the transaction. In doing so, the rule aligns the settlement cycle requirements of the OCC, FDIC, and Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System.

OneChicago, LLC (ONE), a securities finance exchange, today announced its May 2018 volume of 554,378, a decrease of 64% year-over-year. OneChicago is a CFTC and SEC regulated exchange offering Single Stock Futures (SSF), a Delta One product, on approximately 1,800 equities, including ADRs and ETFs.
