CFTC Appoints Richard E. Collier To Be Central Regional Office Coordinator

The Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) announced today the appointment of Richard E. Collier to serve as the regional coordinator for its Central Regional Office, effective immediately. Currently, Richard is Supervisory Auditor in the Central Regional Office of the Division of Clearing and Intermediary Oversight and he will continue in that role.

CBOT Soybean Oil Futures Contract Sets A Volume Record On Exchange Electronic Trading Platform

The Chicago Board of Trade (CBOT) yesterday announced that its members set a new daily volume record for soybean oil futures on the exchange's electronic trading platform with 1,696 contracts traded on September 16, breaking the previous record of 871 contracts set on August 19, 2002. With the inclusion of the open auction market, a total of 28,459 soybean oil futures contracts were traded on September 16.

CBOT Mini-Sized Dow Sets New Volume Record

The Chicago Board of Trade (CBOT) today announced that volume in its CBOT mini-sized DowSM Jones Index futures, which trade exclusively on the exchange's electronic platform, yesterday set a new daily record trading 16,149 contracts, with open interest reaching an all-time high at 20,059 contracts. The former daily volume record of 13,993 contracts was set September 3, 2002.

In advance of this week's Federal Open Market Committee meeting on September 24, the Chicago Board of Trade will be reporting daily rate change probabilities in the FOMC's federal funds target rate, as indicated by the CBOT® 30-Day Federal Funds futures contract. The CBOT 30-Day Federal Funds futures contract is a key benchmark interest rate barometer that reflects the overnight effective rate for excess reserves that are traded among commercial banks in the U.S. federal funds market.
