The Philadelphia Stock Exchange announced today that equity trading volume for May totaled 151,818,975 shares, a 5% decrease over the same year ago period when 159,917,297 shares traded.

The Nasdaq Stock Market, Inc. (Nasdaq®) announced today that several key rule changes that were approved by its board of directors on May 22, 2002, will be filed beginning tomorrow with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). These new rules will soon be published in the Federal Register, be subject to comment periods, and could be implemented for Nasdaq companies later this summer.

Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited (HKEx) is presenting a promotional campaign on the Stock Segregated Account with Statement Service to help familiarise investors with the service. A series of seminars will be held at brokers' and custodians' offices to introduce the service to investors and open accounts for them on-site. On Wednesday Deutsche Börse said it intends to place up to 10.276 million new shares with institutional investors in Europe and the US through a private placement. The shares will come from a capital increase out of the authorized share capital with preemptive rights of existing shareholders being excluded.

Trading volume on GLOBEX®, the electronic trading platform of Chicago Mercantile Exchange Inc. (CME), broke the 900,000 mark for the first time yesterday, June 4, rising to a record 943,953 contracts and surpassing the previous record of 827,894 contracts set on May 15.
