BATS Global Markets Reports Record April Options Volumes - U.S., European Equities Market Share Increased From Year-Ago Period

BATS Global Markets (BATS), a global operator of securities and derivatives markets, today reported continued strong growth at BATS Options, which reported a record 3.4% matched market share in April. The company’s equities businesses in the U.S. and Europe also had a solid month, reporting matched market share of 10.6% and 5.7%, respectively.

O’Malia, the chairman of the Technology Advisory Committee (TAC), announces that the Commission has voted to establish a Subcommittee on Data Standardization to develop recommendations regarding a standardized reference data depository representing the universe of legal and financial terms utilized in describing, defining, and valuing the various derivatives and other financial instruments which are presently and in the future may be traded on and off of regulated exchanges.

SEC Seeks Public Comment On Short Sale Disclosure

Under the exchange offer, shareholders of Deutsche Börse AG can tender their shares to the joint holding company of Deutsche Börse and NYSE Euronext (Alpha Beta Netherlands Holding N.V.) effective immediately. For each share of Deutsche Börse AG shareholders will receive one share of the Dutch holding. On 2 May 2011 the Federal Financial Supervisory Authority (Bundesanstalt für Finanzdienstleistungsaufsicht, BaFin) approved the publication of the offer documents in the context of the combination of Deutsche Börse and NYSE Euronext. Deutsche Börse AG has thus made another important step forward on its route towards combining with NYSE Euronext.

EEX Trading Results In April

In April, the trading volume on the EEX Spot Market for Natural Gas amounted to 1,153,431 MWh (GASPOOL and NCG market areas) compared to 619,420 MWh in April 2010. The volume included 681,687 MWh traded in the Within-Day Gas product. The Spot Market price for the day-ahead delivery of Natural Gas ranged between EUR 19.80 per MWh and EUR 27.00 per MWh.

HKEx To Introduce Synthetic Futures Trading In Its Stock Options Market On 9 May

Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited (HKEx) will introduce a standard combination trading function in its stock options market on Monday, 9 May this year to allow investors to use synthetic futures strategies in the trading of five active stock option classes: China Construction Bank, China Life Insurance, China Mobile, HKEx and HSBC.
