CME, CBOT, NYMEX Respond To Report Of President's Working Group On Financial Markets

The Chicago Mercantile Exchange (CME), Chicago Board of Trade (CBOT) and New York Mercantile Exchange (NYMEX) today jointly released the following statement in response to today's release of the report of the President's Working Group on Financial Markets:

The Chicago Board of Trade announced yesterday that CBOT members set a new annual volume record in the wheat futures contract Friday, trading 5,681,579 contracts so far this year.

Amsterdam Exchanges Introduces Options And Futures On The Amsterdam Midkap-Index

As of Tuesday 23 November 1999, AEX-Optiebeurs will introduce options and futures on the Amsterdam Midkap-index®. The Amsterdam Midkap-index® exsists as of 1 October 1995 and is regarded to be the leading index for 25 companies from the midcap segment of the Dutch stock market.
400th Participant Admitted to Xetra

Deutsche Börse AG has now admitted the 400th Xetra participant. The new participant, Raiffeisenlandesbank Niederösterreich, is based in Vienna and will be trading in Xetra via remote membership. Of the 120 members who have been newly admitted in 1999 to date, 96 are based outside Germany. Another 45 participants are in the process of being admitted and will start trading in Xetra shortly.

ASX All Ordinaries Index Options

On 8 November ASX will commence trading in put and call options over the All Ordinaries Index. Index options will be complemented by the simultaneous listing of Low Exercise Price Options (LEPOs) over the All Ordinaries Index.
NYSE Chairman Grasso Announces Proposed NYSE Initiatives

Grasso announced a series of proposed NYSE initiatives, including an internet-based trading system, designed to reengineer the NYSE as it repositions for the new millennium.
NYMEX Board Votes To List Electricity Contracts For Daytime Electronic Trading Session

The board of directors of the New York Mercantile Exchange last night unanimously voted to list the Exchange's five sets of electricity futures and options contracts for both daytime and overnight trading on the NYMEX ACCESS® electronic trading system.
State Street And OM Announce Joint Venture To Launch Electronic Execution System In Europe

State Street Corporation, one of the world's leading specialists serving institutional investors, and the OM Group, a major owner of exchanges and developer of trading technology, announced today (November 4) that they have agreed in principal to launch a new European fixed income electronic execution system, called Bond Connect Europe. State Street and OM will establish a joint venture to manage implementation and marketing of Bond Connect to institutional investors throughout Europe.
Program Trading Averaged 22.9 Percent of NYSE Volume During Oct. 25-29

The New York Stock Exchange today (November 4) released its weekly program-trading data submitted by its member firms. The report includes trading in all markets as reported to the NYSE for Oct. 25-29. The data indicated that during Oct. 25-29, program trading amounted to 22.9 percent of NYSE average daily volume of 976.5 million shares, or 223.7 million shares a day.
