  • Turnover On SWX Eurobonds Surpasses One Billion Level

    By the first day of December 1999, bonds worth a total of CHF 1 billion in principal value had changed hands via the SWX Eurobonds trading platform. Ever since foreign investors were freed in March of this year from paying Swiss stamp tax on foreign bonds, turnover on SWX Eurobonds has risen continuously. In November, Eurobonds involving more than USD 71 million were traded; in euro-denominated bonds, turnover surpassed EUR 94 million.

  • Singapore Exchange Launched As The First Demutualised, Integrated Exchange In Asia-Pacific

    The month of November brought a spate of new volume records to the Kansas City Board of Trade. Overall exchange volume for the month set a new record at 246,433 contracts, blasting the previous November record of 194,043 contracts set in 1998 by nearly 27 percent. Total exchange volume was up 50 percent compared to last month.

    ParisBourse SBF SA and the Singapore Exchange's Derivatives Trading division yesterday signed, in Singapore, a Cross Membership and Cross Access Trading Agreement to allow its trading members to obtain membership in each other's Exchange for the purpose of cross-exchange trading in all electronically-listed products on both markets, via a single access.

    The Chicago Board Options Exchange (CBOE) listed for trading two new issues of The Goldman Sachs Group, Inc. Callable Index Linked Notes (the "Notes") under the symbols "GIA.A" and "GII.A." The four year Notes are linked to the Goldman Sachs Technology Indexes (GSTI?) Internet Index (ticker symbol GIN) and were originally issued at 99.50% of the face amount.
