Program Trading Averaged 20.7 Percent Of NYSE Volume During May 1-May 5

The New York Stock Exchange today released its weekly program-trading data submitted by its member firms. The report includes trading in all markets as reported to the NYSE for May 1-May 5. The data indicated that during May 1-May 5, program trading amounted to 20.7 percent of NYSE average daily volume of 940.8 million shares, or 194.3 million shares a day.

ParisBourseSBF SA (1), one of the founder members of Euronext, the first European bourse, today announced the launch of the Wine Futures Exchange project (Winefex). The first step consists of a feasibility study for the creation of a regulated futures market for categories of fine wines.

News from the SAXO Project - Danish Bonds Transferred To SAXESS On 9 October 2000

Bond trading will be transferred to the SAXESS trading system on 9 October 2000. The launch was originally scheduled for 25 September 2000. However, the Danish Government subsequently announced a referendum to decide Denmark's participation in the third stage of the EMU. The referendum will be held on 28 September 2000.

NASD Extends Board Member Election Process By 15 Days - Extension Made To Ensure Equal Use Of E-mail Addresses By Candidates

The National Association of Securities Dealers, Inc. (NASDĀ®) will extend the period by 15 days to May 30 for NASD members to vote on seven new board member vacancies. "We determined to make this extension when we learned that some of the candidates or their agents had access to an e-mail list of NASD members that was not accessible to other candidates," Edward S. Knight, NASD general counsel said.

In relation to a news wire report entitled "Integration of Thai-Malaysian-Singapore Stock Markets to Benefit Investors" dated 10 May 2000, the Kuala Lumpur Stock Exchange (KLSE) wishes to clarify that it is currently not involved in any discussions with the Stock Exchange of Thailand and the Singapore Exchange Ltd in relation to the proposed integration of the three (3)Exchanges.
