Standard & Poor's Announces Changes In The S&P/TSX Venture Composite Index

Standard & Poor's will make the following changes in the S&P/TSX Venture Composite Index after the close of trading on Thursday, July 3, 2003: Avatar Petroleum Inc. (TSXVN:AVA) will be removed from the S&P/TSX Venture Composite Index. The company will be delisted from the TSX Venture Exchange as a result of the completion of a plan of arrangement forming a new entity Quest Capital Corp. which will trade on the TSX under the ticker symbols "QC.A" and QC.B."

The Securities and Exchange Commission today praised President Bush for enacting H.S. 658, The Accountant, Compliance, and Enforcement Staffing Act of 2003, which will greatly streamline the Commission's efforts to add more than 800 lawyers, accountants, economists and examiners to its staff.
