    From now on selected securities at NEWEX (New Europe Exchange) can be traded on the Frankfurt Backend of Xetra, the electronic trading system, as NEWEX announced yesterday. With this move all 435 Xetra members are now able to trade CEE securities directly on NEWEX.

    On Tuesday, Deutsche Börse decided on changes in the MDAX, SDAX and NEMAX 50 indexes, to become effective on September 24, as part of its regular review of the composition of its equity indexes. Moreover, effective June 24, 2002, Deutsche Börse will reduce the number of companies in the SDAX (small-cap quality index) to 50, as Deutsche Börse reported on Tuesday.

Equity trading volume for the first seven months of 2001 reached 1.2 billion shares traded. The PHLX currently trades nearly 2,200 equities.
