CME, Korea Futures Exchange Agree To Pursue Joint Initiatives

Chicago Mercantile Exchange Inc. (CME) and the Korea Futures Exchange (KOFEX) today signed a Memorandum of Understanding to pursue joint business development initiatives in derivatives products. Under the agreement, the exchanges will discuss a variety of issues, including cooperation related to product development and information sharing.

The American Stock Exchange (Amex) member and non-member organizations today reported short interest of 508,476,752 shares as of the October 15 settlement date, an increase of 78,445,824 from the 430,030,928 (adjusted) shares reported in mid-September. Although there were no fireworks, the market did display a slight improvement in investor sentiment. Instead of the small but gradual decline observed in the past few weeks, the market registered a marginal recovery with the CCFI All-Share index edging up 0.05% to close the week at 198.91. We believe that this is partly attributable to the oscillations of a range-bound market.
