Cantor Fitzgerald International New Member of MONEP
The Paris branch of Cantor Fitzgerald International has become a member of MONEP with the status of Broker dealer on index futures and options. This new membership brings the total number of MONEP members to 114 compared to 87 in April 1998.

Botswana Stock Exchange Weekly Market Commentary
The market rose 2.6% during the week to close at 971.83. Liquidity appears to be returning to the Botswana Stock Exchange as foreign interest in the listed stocks has picked up dramatically in the last few weeks, in particular interest appears to be focused on heavyweight Sechaba which is trading on a 10.5x historic PER and 8.4% dividend yield. The stock goes ex-dividend at the end of next week.

Over 17 million contracts traded on French derivatives markets in April, Matif strengthens its lead as the top electronic market for 3-month Euribor contract
April figures show a total 17,516,199 contracts changed hands on French derivatives markets Matif and Monep, a rise of nearly 7% on March. Open interest was up across the entire line of derivative products. Gross open interest in the Euro Notional contract rose 11.8% on March to total 217,562 lots at the end of the month. Johannesburg Stock Exchange To Be Closed for Business on 30 and 31 December 1999
After due consideration, the JSE Main Committee has decided that the JSE will be closed for business on 30 and 31 December 1999. 29 December 1999 will thus be the last day for the dissemination of trading information to the public and vendors during 1999. This information will therefore appear in the media on 30 December 1999. Key JSE personnel will be at work on 30 and 31 December 1999 in order to assist in the orderly transition of JSE systems to the year 2000.

CBOT'S April Volume at 19,570,395 Contracts

NYMEX Sets Monthly Copper Volume Record in April
A monthly volume record for COMEX Division copper futures was established in April with 296,162 contracts traded by month's end, surpassing the previous monthly volume record of 291,393 contracts traded in June 1994. HKSE Listing Decisions published on the web page
The Stock Exchange of Hong Kong today (Monday) posted a new series of Listing Decisions on its website in order to increase market transparency. The new series of Listing Decisions comprises decisions taken in cases handled by the Listing Committee and the Listing Division in their everyday work without identifying the parties involved. Both the decisions and the interpretation and rationale behind them are disclosed.

European Exchanges sign agreement
The heads of eight leading European stock exchanges signed a Memorandum of Understanding in Madrid today (May 4). The Memorandum is formal confirmation of the ongoing commitment by all the exchanges to continue to work jointly towards harmonising the markets for their leading securities and establishing a pan-European equity market. ASX All Ordinaries Index Review
The Australian Stock Exchange (ASX) has today released a working paper titled "Rules for the Construction of the All Ordinaries Index." ASX has been reviewing All Ordinaries Index (AOI) to ensure that it continues to meet the needs of market participants. Broad consultation continues to be an important part of the review process, and the working paper is intended to provide interested parties with information on the rules governing the construction of the revised AOI.

Kuala Lumpur Stock Exchange Enhances Foreign Interest In Malaysian Shares
The Kuala Lumpur Stock Exchange (KLSE) is enhancing foreign interest in Malaysian shares through the regulation of depository receipts. The regulation of the depository receipts was put in place with amendments to the rules of Malaysian Central Depository Sdn Bhd (MCD) which have been approved by the Securities Commission recently. A depository receipt is a security which accords a right to the holder of the security to own certain quantity of securities of an issuer listed on a stock exchange
