  • Deutsche Börse: 289 Billion Euros In Turnover On German Stock Exchanges In October

    The aggregate turnover statistics show that a total volume of 289.5 billion euros was traded on the German stock exchanges in October 2003 - about nine percent higher than last year's level (October 2002: 266.4 billion euros). The total comprises 229.3 billion euros in equities, warrants and exchange-traded funds as well as 60.2 billion euros in fixed-income securities.

    The Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) today announced the resignation of Jane Kang Thorpe effective November 21, 2003. Ms. Thorpe was appointed as Director of the Division of Clearing and Intermediary Oversight (DCIO) in May 2002. The Division was created during a 2002 restructuring of the Commission to facilitate implementation of the Commodity Futures Modernization Act of 2000 (CFMA).

    The continuing resolution funding the Securities and Exchange Commission for fiscal 2004 since Oct. 1, 2003, has been extended through Nov. 7, 2003. Therefore, fees paid under Section 6(b) of the Securities Act of 1933 and Sections 13(e), 14(g) and 31 of the Securities Exchange Act of 1934 will remain at their current rates.
