Statement By New York Attorney General Eliot Spitzer Regarding The Investment Company Institute's Mutual Fund Fee Report

The report released today by the Investment Company Institute is fundamentally flawed because it considered only the advisory fees charged by sub-advisors. Sub-advisors are external managers that are hired by mutual fund managers to give investment advice. The fees that they charge are the product of competitive bidding and arms-length negotiations. It is therefore not surprising that those fees are lower than those charged by most mutual funds and closer to the advisory fees paid by pension fun
