Amex Composite Index Surges 42% In 2003

The American Stock Exchange (Amex) announced that its Amex Composite Index (SYMBOL: XAX) finished the year at 1175.19, a 42% increase over 2002. The XAX, which is comprised of all the listed equities on the exchange, is the leading index over a three-year and five-year period, sharply outperforming the Russell 2000, Wilshire 5000, NYSE Composite Index, Standard & Poor's 500 Index and the Nasdaq Composite Index.

USDA has confirmed that 81 of the 82 animals listed on the Canadian health certificate that includes the eartag number of the index cow entered the United States through Oroville, WA, on September 4, 2001. One of those 82 has now been located at a Mattawa, WA, dairy operation, which is now under a state hold order. OneChicago Finishes 2003 With Record Volume Month

OneChicago, LLC today announced a record-breaking month in December trading 342,227 contracts, a 178% increase over December 2002 volume. Open interest stood at 153,866 contracts December 31. Average daily volume was 15,556 contracts in December.
