  • Jefferson Pilot To Pay Over $500,000 In First VUL Market Timing Action - NASD Also Fines Affiliate $125,000 For E-Mail Retention Violations

    NASD has fined Jefferson Pilot Variable Corporation, a Concord, NH broker-dealer, $325,000 for failing to have an adequate supervisory system in place to prevent market timing and excessive trading in the sub-accounts of its Ensemble series of variable universal life insurance policies (VULs). Jefferson Pilot is the exclusive distributor of Ensemble VULs, which are issued by a Jefferson Pilot insurance affiliate. In addition, the firm must pay $238,697 in restitution to the affected funds.
