The international derivatives exchange Eurex yesterday announced the successful completion of the launch of the new Eurex 7.0 software release. Release 7.0 provides Eurex participants with addtional features and functionalities that improve options trading, expand basis trading of OTC-traded contracts and further increase the update rate of Eurex price information. SEC Extends Time For Banks To Comply With Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act Broker Registration Requirements

The Securities and Exchange Commission announced today that it issued an order further extending until March 31, 2005, the compliance dates for banks with respect to certain broker registration requirements contained in the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act (GLBA). Cash products 11.5 million transactions were registered on Euronext’s cash markets in October 2004, making the month the busiest since April this year. Although average daily volume was down 8.3 % on October 2003, the activity was up 6.2% on September 2004 and up 8.5% compared to the average of the six previous months. Since the beginning of the year 117 million transactions have been completed. This represents a daily average of 545,000.

New Euronext List Gears Up For Launch

In June, Euronext announced plans to overhaul its listing structure and in so doing improve the visibility and liquidity of small and midcap stocks traded on its markets. The reform has made good progress, and operational launch at Euronext Paris is scheduled for the beginning of 2005.

Japan Securities Settlement & Custody, Inc. (JSSC), a subsidiary of Tokyo Stock Exchange, Inc. (TSE), and Taiwan Securities Central Depository Co. Ltd. (TSCD) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on November 2, 2004, aimed at establishing cooperative ties between the two organizations for securities depository and settlement.
