Tokyo Stock Exchange: Introduction Of Free Float Adjusted Indices

Tokyo Stock Exchange, Inc. (TSE) announced today that it will introduce free-float adjusted indices, a conclusion reached through consultation studies based on public comments that TSE sought until the end of this April in regards to a concept release issued on February 26, 2004.

Standard & Poor’s will make the following changes in the S&P/TSX Venture Composite Index after the close of trading on Friday, July 23, 2004: Banks Ventures Ltd. (TSXVN:BKL) will change its name to Banks Energy Inc. The ticker remains unchanged. There is no consolidation of capital. BM Diamondcorp. Inc. (TSXVN:BDI) will change its name to BDI Mining Corp. The ticker remains unchanged. There is no consolidation of capital.

Commodity Futures Trading Commission: President Designates Sharon Brown-Hruska Acting Chairman

The Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) today announced that the President has designated Commissioner Sharon Brown-Hruska to serve as Acting Chairman of the CFTC, effective July 24, 2004. The Senate confirmed Brown-Hruska on August 2, 2002, to a term expiring in April 2004. The White House also announced the President’s intention to nominate Brown-Hruska to a second term expiring in April 2009.
Baltic Exchange To Expand Vessel Sale & Purchase Assessments

The Baltic Exchange proposes to change the name of its Baltic Ship Valuation Assessments (BaSVA) to Baltic Sale & Purchase Assessments. Following consultation with the shipping industry, the Baltic also proposes to increase the frequency of the assessments’ publication as well as providing additional assessments on medium range products tankers and supramax bulk carriers – matching the unit description for the recently announced Baltic Supramax Index.
