Japan's Financial Services Agency Publishes The Status Of Banks' Non-Performing Loans As Of End-March 2009

Non-performing loans (NPLs) Based on the Financial Reconstruction Act (FRA) The total amount of NPLs held by all banks as of end-March 2009, based on the definition in the FRA(Act No.132 of 1998), is 12.0 trillion yen. The figure increased by 0.6 trillion yen from 11.4 trillion yen as of end-March 2008.

Global ETF Assets Have Hit An All Time High - Latest Data From The ETF Research And Implementation Strategy Team At Barclays Global Investors Reveals Global AUM Of US$862 Bn, US$183 Bn In Europe And US$582 Bn In The US At End July 2009

Global ETF assets have hit an all time high of US$862 bn at the end of July 2009 - 7.0% above the previous all time high of US$805 bn set in April 2008, according to the latest figures from Barclays Global Investors. The global ETF industry had 1,768 ETFs with 3,129 listings, and assets of US$862 bn from 94 providers on 42 exchanges around the world at the end of July 2009. YTD assets have risen by 21.2% which is more than the 13.5% rise in the MSCI World Index in US dollar terms.

In July 2009, the value of assets under custody held on behalf of customers registered an increase for the fifth consecutive month and stood at €10.4 trillion. Primarily due to lower equity market valuations and despite an increase in the new issuance of bonds the asset under custody are still 4 percent lower than in July 2008 (€10.8 trillion).
