International Securities Exchange Expands FX Options Portfolio With Launch Of Three New Currency Pairs - Options On New Zealand Dollar, Mexican Peso And Swedish Krona Now Available

The International Securities Exchange (ISE) today announced that it has expanded its suite of ISE FX Options® with the launch of three new currency pairs. Options on the New Zealand dollar (Symbol: NZD), Mexican peso (Symbol: PZO) and Swedish krona (Symbol: SKA) began trading on August 3, 2009. Timber Hill is the Primary Market Maker for these new products.

Bursa Malaysia: Securities Borrowing & Lending Model Enhanced For More Flexibility

The Securities Commission Malaysia (SC) and Bursa Malaysia today announced the introduction of Securities Borrowing and Lending Negotiated Transaction (SBLNT), an enhanced securities borrowing and lending (SBL) model that offers an option to borrow and lend on an over-the-counter (OTC) basis. The SC also released the revised SBL Guidelines while Bursa Malaysia issued the relevant rules, procedures and guidelines to provide for SBLNT.

In July 2009, TOCOM monthly trading volume decreased by 213,084 contracts or 8.8% compared to June 2009, to amount to a total of 2,213,006 contracts, while the average daily trading volume decreased by 9,686 to amount to a total of 100,591 contracts.

CFTC Recognizes Eurex Clearing As Multilateral Clearing Organization (MCO) - CFTC Order Permits Eurex Clearing To Expand Its OTC Facilities In The U.S.

Eurex Clearing announced today that the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) issued an order on 31 July 2009 that recognizes Eurex Clearing as a Multilateral Clearing Organization (MCO). This new CFTC order complements Eurex’ s and Eurex Clearing’s existing service offering to US customers. Eurex Clearing can now also offer its existing OTC facilities to the 75 Eurex members based in the US.

CME Group Volume Averaged 9.8 Million Contracts Per Day In July 2009

CME Group, the world's largest and most diverse derivatives marketplace, today announced that July volume averaged 9.8 million contracts per day, down 25 percent from July 2008. Total volume was 215 million contracts for July, of which 81 percent was traded electronically, up from 79 percent in June. Electronic volume averaged 7.9 million contracts per day, down 25 percent from the prior July. CME Group year-to-date volume through July averaged 10.3 million contracts per day.

The international derivatives exchange Eurex announced today the opening of its representative office in Singapore in July 2009. This is a further important step to strengthen and expand Eurex’s relationships to its existing and potential business partners in Singapore and the region. IntercontinentalExchange(R) (NYSE: ICE), a leading operator of regulated global futures exchanges, clearing houses and over-the-counter (OTC) markets, today reported strong July 2009 volume. Average daily volume (ADV) for ICE's futures markets was 1,012,437 contracts, an increase of 34% from July 2008.
