Remarks By US Deputy Secretary Of The Treasury Wally Adeyemo At The Brookings Institution
Date 09/09/2022
Thank you all so much for being here today, and to David and the Brookings Institution for hosting me. It has been a little more than six months since Russia began its brutal and unprovoked invasion of Ukraine, the most significant threat in generations to the post-World War II international order. Over those six months, we have worked with our allies and partners to mount an unprecedented global response to help end Russia’s unjustified aggression. As part of our overarching strategy to end Russia’s invasion we have deployed sanctions with two primary objectives in mind: to deny Putin revenue to pursue his war of choice and to erode Russia’s ability to wage war going forward by disrupting the critical supply chains feeding Russia’s military-industrial complex.

Keynote Address By CFTC Commissioner Caroline D. Pham At The EUROFI Financial Forum Prague 2022 - “Money And Life, The Metaverse, And Everything”
Date 09/09/2022
Good evening. It is my great pleasure and honor to be here at EUROFI Prague. I wish to thank David, Didier, and Marc for organizing this important event. Eurofi was launched more than 20 years ago during a time of great change and consolidation—in the middle of the launch of the common currency—designed for more efficient payments and price transparency, bringing its own promises and challenges. Now, perhaps it’s no surprise that many are exploring the promises and challenges of virtual currency.

The Economic Outlook: Time To Let The Data Do The Talking, Federal Reserve Governor Christopher J. Waller, At The 17th Annual Vienna Macroeconomics Workshop (2022), Vienna, Austria
Date 09/09/2022
Thank you, Klaus, and thank you for the invitation to speak at this workshop, which I have been attending since its very beginning in 2004. Something that I love about this conference that has kept me coming back almost every year is its tradition of open inquiry and even some fun, on the one hand, combined with rigorous, critical analysis, on the other. I am a supporter, and I guess a practitioner, of rigorous criticism, because, as you may have heard, the conference award given each year for "outstanding critic" was named for me. Based on the standard I set, the person who wins the award is also known as the "most annoying participant." I suppose it was only karma that a guy like me who likes to dish out the criticism would end up in a job that receives plenty of it. Kidding aside, I do consider being the namesake for this award a great honor, and just to make sure I don't get too much of a swelled head, by tradition the conference organizers purposefully misspell my name.
