  • Jiway Has Successful Launch

    Trading began well on Jiway, Europe’s first integrated stock exchange for retail investors. The first day of trading was November 17. Private investors can now trade – through brokers – a total of 320 securities including stocks listed on the London Stock Exchange (SETS) and stocks from the Stockholm A-list and the CAC 40 in France.

  • HKEx Derivatives Market Panel Sees Three-month HIBOR Rising Slightly

    The Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited (HKEx) Derivatives Market's panel of forecasters predicts that the three-month Hong Kong interbank offered rate (HIBOR) will be slightly higher on 15 January 2001 compared with its 15 November 2000 level. The panel also sees one-month HIBOR rising between now and mid-January. Both forecasts appear in the latest edition of the "HIBOR Futures Market Update" newsletter, published today.

    The Eurex Exchange Council appointed Thomas Lenz to the general management of the exchange, Eurex Deutschland, effective retroactively to October 16, 2000. The other members of the general management are Rudolf Ferscha, Otto E. Nägeli, Jürg Spillmann and Michael Widmer as well as Jörg Franke, who is leaving the general management as of year-end.     Growth in spending on information and communications technology (ICT) in emerging markets is two to three times that of mature markets like the United States, according to a Nasdaq-sponsored study released yesterday by the World Information Technology and Services Alliance (WITSA) based on data provided by market intelligence firm IDC.

  • Deutsche Börse Calculates Weather Indices - Temperature Data For 30 European Cities

    Effective immediately, Deutsche Börse is calculating weather indices under the name "Xelsius". The indices open up the opportunity to identify temperature-related weather risks for 30 European cities. The indices will later be the basis for introducing derivatives products at Eurex.
