CFTC And SEC Adopt Final Rules Related To Cash Settlement Procedures And Trading Halts For Security Futures Products

The Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) and the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) today announced that they approved final rules that set forth certain requirements relating to the trading of security futures products. These rules implement provisions of the Commodity Futures Modernization Act of 2000 (CFMA), which lifted the 19-year ban on the trading of single-stock and narrow-based stock index futures in this country.

Stock Exchange Of Thailand: Three New Brokers To Commence Services On May 20 And June 3

Finansa Securities Co., Ltd. and Credit Suisse First Boston Securities (Thailand) Ltd. have been assigned broker seats and plan to become licensed brokers on May 20, while Asset Plus Securities Co., Ltd. will join later on June 3. There are three more securities houses expecting to become full-fledged brokers by the end of this year: CLSA Securities (Thailand) Ltd., HSBC Securities (Thailand) Ltd., and Vajira Finance and Securities Ltd.

Stock Exchange Of Thailand: Listed Companies Report Doubled Net Profits Of 45 Billion Baht In Q1 2002

Listed companies reported a 45 billion baht net profit in their operational performance in the first quarter of 2002, a 1.11 times increase from last year, led by the Energy Sector, Transportation, Building Materials, Property Development, and Electronic Components. The Finance and Banking Sector also reported a rise in net profits due to the re-establishment of the minimum brokerage commission fee that became effective on March 14.
