Nymex Board Votes To List More Months Of Gasoline Futures Trading; Amends Specifications To Reference EPA Requirements

The board of directors of the New York Mercantile Exchange has voted to list gasoline futures contracts for October 2000 through January 2001 with amended specifications calling for the gasoline's oxygen content to Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) standards.

Nasdaq Sets New Record For One-day Point Gain

The Nasdaq Stock MarketĀ® today had its largest point increase ever, with figures showing the Nasdaq CompositeĀ® Index rising 155.49 points to 3882.62. The previous point-gain record was set on December 21, 1999 with the Composite Index rising 127.30 points.

Johannesburg Stock Exchange Records All Time High For All Share Index

A new record closing value of 8,654 was recorder for the JSE/Actuaries All Share Index today. The 8,600 mark has been reached for the first time in the JSE's 112 year history. The All Share Index recorded a previous high of 8,543 on December 29, 1999.

The Chicago Stock Exchange (CHX) again posted industry-leading volume growth in 1999 as it further expanded its innovative initiatives and firmly established itself as a growing competitive force in the U.S. equity markets. CHX 1999 trade volume increased 86 percent over 1998 to a record 30,395,920. Share volume also hit a record 14,398,470,523, an increase of 59 percent over the previous year. Since 1996, CHX annual volume has more than tripled.

(option/stock symbol: SUH/ISLD), upon the opening of business today, January 3, 2000. In addition, the PHLX will begin trading put and call options on Ask Jeeves, Inc. (option/stock symbol: AUK/ASKJ), upon the opening of business Tuesday, January 4, 2000.

PHLX Posts Record Breaking Volume For 1999 - PHLX Equity And Index Options Volume Reaches All Time Record

The Philadelphia Stock Exchange's (PHLX) just-released 1999 figures reveal that volume in PHLX's 950 equity options reached an all-time annual record of 44,281,558 contracts traded, an increase of 18% over last year's annual volume when 37,473,343 contracts changed hands. In addition, equity options volume for the month of December reached a monthly volume record when 4,261,170 contracts traded, a 38% increase over December, 1998 when 3,088,325 contracts changed hands.

Nymex Board Approves Demutualization Plan

The New York Mercantile Exchange board of directors last night unanimously approved a demutualization plan which will convert the Exchange from a not-for-profit membership structure to a for-profit organization.
