Interim Results For London Stock Exchange Plc For The Six Months Ended 30 September 2000 -

The London Stock Exchange published its unaudited interim results today showing an 89 per cent increase in operating profits for continuing operations before exceptional items. These results cover the first half-year period following demutualisation in March this year.

EURONEXT Introduces 5-Years Options On UPC And Wolters Kluwer

CBOT: Regulation Adopted Granting Lower Fees To Members, Member Firms

Dear Fellow Member: The Board of Directors yesterday discussed a petition submitted by several members regarding a proposed member fee preference that would apply to the trading of all CBOT® products. The Restructuring Report that was issued in connection with the June 28, 2000 ballot proposed a three-year member fee preference. Cathay Bancorp, Inc. (Nasdaq: CATY) of Los Angeles, California, will become a component of the Nasdaq Financial-100 Index®, effective at the beginning of trading Thursday, October 26, 2000. Cathay Bancorp will replace First Security Corporation (Nasdaq: FSCO), which is being acquired.

Stock Exchange of Hong Kong: Rules Relaxed For One-Off Sales Of Shares

The Stock Exchange of Hong Kong has received enquiries from Exchange Participants relating to the one-off sale of shares by shareholders who have obtained shares through initial public offerings. In general, before an Exchange Participant accepts or operates a securities trading account for any investor in relation to securities traded on the Stock Exchange, the Exchange Participant is required to enter into a Client's Agreement with that investor.

PHLX Sets Equity And Options Volume Records

The Philadelphia Stock Exchange (PHLX) announced today that equity volume for the month of September 2000 reached 158,662,745 shares traded, a 55% increase over September 1999, when 102,653,810 changed hands. In addition, during the first nine months of 2000, PHLX traded a record of approximately 1.6 billion shares, an increase of 37% in comparison to the same period last year when 1,183,409,136 shares changed hands. The PHLX currently trades 2,300 equities.

NYMEX To Lower Western Electricity Margins As Of Close Of Business Tomorrow

The New York Mercantile Exchange will decrease the margins on its California Oregon border, Palo Verde, and Mid-Columbia River electricity futures contracts as of the close of business today.
