Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra announced today (31 march 2001) the results of a meeting to gather ideas on way to develop the Thai capital market. SWX: The Twelfth "Kantonalbank" Is Going Public

The shares of St. Galler Kantonalbank AG were traded today for the first time on the main market of the SWX Swiss Exchange. The offering price was set Sunday night at CHF 160. At the start of trading on SWX, the stock stood 0.6% above that level at CHF 161, representing a total market capitalization for the company of CHF 805 million.

Eurex, the international derivatives market, set another world record in March: With 61.2 million contracts traded, the world market leader surpassed its March 2000 turnover by 45 percent and beat the previous record of 53.5 million contracts traded in January 2001. KCBT Wheat Options Volume Sets New Record For Month Of March

Trading volume at the Kansas City Board of Trade continued to set records in the wheat options contract. Previously, the most volume traded during any given March was 17,398 contracts, which was in 2000. In March 2001 trading volume was 22,658 contracts, an increase of 30.2 percent. Wheat options volume also increased 63.2 percent when compared to February 2001.

Four Weeks Of Futures Trading In Electricity: EEX Gives Positive Assessment - 75 Percent Of Exchange-Based Electricity Trading In Germany Posted Through EEX Spot And Futures Market - Development Of Trading Know-How Among Participants Promotes Further Libe

Four weeks after the launch of electricity futures trading, EEX has given a positive assessment of the activity in this market. Since the launch on March 1, roughly 1.32 million megawatt hours (MWh) have been traded in the futures market, that is 3,445 contracts. Of this total, about 75 percent (2,539 contracts) were traded on peak-load blocks and 25 percent (906 contracts) on base-load blocks. The average daily volume traded in the futures market is about 60,000 MWh, or roughly 160 contracts.
