  • Record Day For IPE Brent Crude Futures

    Traded volume in IPE Brent Crude futures set a new individual record yesterday trading 141,611 lots, the equivalent of almost 142 million barrels of crude, which is twice the level of daily world production. The previous daily record was 140,722 on 10th November 1999. Total daily volume of all IPE contracts yesterday was over 197,000 lots.

  • NYSE Fully Implements Automatic Order Execution Service NYSE Direct+<sup>TM</sup> - Network NYSE Auto-X Routing Available For NYSE-Listed Stocks

    With the implementation phase of NYSE Direct+ complete, the Exchange's advanced automatic execution service for limit orders of 1,099 shares or less is now accessible to investors through participating NYSE Member Firms. The NYSE initiated the NYSE Direct+ pilot program on Dec. 28, 2000, and began full-scale implementation on Feb. 28 of this year.

  • New York Mercantile Exchange Board Announces Plans To Introduce Brent Crude Oil Futures Contract

    At the recommendation of its crude oil advisory committee, the board of directors of the New York Mercantile Exchange, Inc., this morning voted to develop a 15-day Brent Blend crude oil futures contract that will be traded in the ring alongside the Exchange's benchmark light, sweet crude oil futures contract.

  • London Stock Exchange Set For International Retail Service

    The London Stock Exchange today confirmed the list of securities that will be available on its International Retail Service when trading commences on 30 April 2001. At the outset there will be 111 stocks from across ten different countries, including household names such as Daimler Chrysler, CISCO Systems, Nokia, Microsoft and Nestlé.

    The London Metal Exchange traded a total of 5,300,392 lots in March 2001. This figure was made up of 5,055,086 lots of futures, 233,647 lots of options and 11,659 lots of TAPOs.

  • J P Morgan: Botswana Second Best Performing Emerging Market

    According to JP Morgan’s monthly update, Botswana was the second best performing emerging market during the month of February 2001. The BSE grew 11.7% in US$ terms, second only to the 13.9% growth posted by Morocco. China was in third place at growth of 6.8%. Over the 12 months to 28 February 2001, Botswana was the third best performer (-1.7%), with China (+139.2%) and Slovakia (+10.0%) in first and second place respectively.

    Chicago Stock Exchange released first quarter 2001 and March monthly trade data. The first quarter produced three of the top ten share volume days in exchange history. January, February, and March 2001 were each among the exchange's ten most active months in share turnover in its history. March share volume was 2,734,952,661 and trade volume was 5,096,338.
