Pacific Exchange Elects New Governors

The Pacific Exchange (PCX) has announced that, at its annual meeting held on January 24, its members elected J. Steven Noonan, Vice President, SLK-Hull Derivatives, LLC, as Vice Chair-elect of the PCX Board of Governors. Noonan succeeds Paul J. Roesler, Lead Market Maker for Equitec-Cole Roesler, LLC, who will serve as Vice Chair of the Board for 2002. Noonan, who will serve as Vice Chair in 2003, was also elected as a Floor Governor of the Exchange.
NASD Board Approves Stock Sale To Nasdaq

The NASD announced yesterday its Board of Directors had approved the sale of its remaining 33.7 million shares of Nasdaq common stock to The Nasdaq Stock Market. Prior to this transaction the NASD owned, on a fully diluted basis, 27.6 percent of Nasdaq common stock.

Based upon the January 24th market close in the February 2002 expiration, the Chicago Board of Trade 30-Day Federal Funds futures contract is currently pricing in a 12 percent probability that the Federal Open Market Committee will lower the federal funds target rate by at least 25 basis points from 1-3/4 percent to 1-1/2 percent at the FOMC meeting on January 29-30 (versus an 88 percent probability of no rate cut).
HKEx: Liquidity Providers To Be Introduced Under Amended Derivative Warrant Rules

Deutsche Börse AG is further expanding its XTF market segment for exchange-traded funds. Starting Friday, one new index fund based on the FTSE 100 index will be traded on XTF. The fund is issued by Indexchange. For the first time a FTSE index fund can be traded on the Xetra electronic trading platform, serving 422 trading members from 18 countries.

Deutsche Börse wants to offer its market participants an additional trading service for private investors' orders on its Xetra platform. The new service, Xetra Best Execution - Xetra BEST, for short ? supports immediate execution of private investors' orders as well as a better price compared with the price that currently would have come about in the Xetra orderbook. The new product, which will be an integral part of the Xetra software, is expected to be made available for market participants in
