Australian Stock Exchange Limited Launches First Futures Contracts

Australian Stock Exchange Ltd (ASX) has lodged final rule changes to its approved futures exchange and, subject to final regulatory clearance, will go live on 30 January 2002. ASX Managing Director and CEO Richard Humphry today announced that the first futures contracts products to be traded on ASX will be the ASX Mini200 and the ASX Mini50.

The Securities and Exchange Commission announced today that it has issued an order revoking the registration of Republic New York Securities Corp., a New York-based broker-dealer registered with the Commission since 1992. entory Shareholders Agree To Takeover By Deutsche Börse - Acceptance Quota Of 100 Percent Documents Overwhelming Support - Cartel Office Has No Objections To The Deal

All shareholders of entory AG, Karlsbad, agreed to the offer by Deutsche Börse AG to purchase their shares. The 353 shareholders, some 300 are also employees of the company, thus back the merger of Deutsche Börse Systems AG and entory with impressive unity. The two companies had announced on November 30 that they wanted to merge their business activities. Deutsche Börse had tendered a private offer to entory shareholders to take over the company which ran until December 14.

CME Trading Volume Hits 400 Million Mark In 2001

Trading volume on Chicago Mercantile Exchange Inc. (CME) surpassed 400 million in one year for the first time in the exchange's 103-year history on Friday, Dec. 14, when year-to-date volume reached 401,715,430 contracts.
