March Winnipeg Commodity Exchange Futures And Options Volumes Traded At More Traditional Levels

Overall, total futures volume for March 2002 was 40.0% lower than the record 303,720 contracts observed for the same month a year ago. With the Exchange for Physicals (EFPs) included, March 2002 futures trading volume totaled 190,446 contracts. Total futures open interest levels as of March 31, 2002 were 73,613 contracts, 42.3% below the 127,471 contracts open on March 31, 2001.

It was incorrectly announced earlier that WestJet Airlines Inc. (TSE: WJA) would replace Alberta Energy Company Ltd. (TSE: AEC) in the TSE 100 Index. The release should have read that SNC-Lavalin Group Inc. (TSE: SNC) will replace Alberta Energy Company Ltd. in the TSE 100 Index. SNC-Lavalin Group Inc. is an engineering and construction company dealing with project solutions to various industries.
