RTS Stock Exchange Bonds: Weekly Market Data

For the week of October 20th- October 24th, 2003, total volume on the RTS Bonds, the system facilitating trading in corporate, governmental, municipal debt, and Eurobonds, equaled 4 110 dollars, compared with 8 148 thousand rubles the week before. Two trades were registered, down from three trades the previous week.

The Coffee "C" futures market at the New York Board of Trade® (NYBOT®), the world's leading "soft" commodities exchange, broke an all-time open interest record of 83,009 contracts on October 24, 2003. The old record, 82,088 contracts, was set on April 15, 2003.

The Stock Exchange of Hong Kong Limited, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited (HKEx), will narrow the strike intervals in the spot month and next calendar month for Options on Cheung Kong (Holdings) Ltd, Hutchison Whampoa Ltd and Sun Hung Kai Properties Ltd from 31 October 2003.

HKEx: Changes Of Designated Securities For Short Selling

The Stock Exchange of Hong Kong Limited, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited (HKEx), announces that with effect from 3 November 2003 (Monday), 36 additional securities will be eligible for short selling and five existing designated securities will be removed from the list. The total number of designated securities for short selling will be 189 after the revision.

For the week of October 20th - October 24th, 2003, total trading volume on FORTS (Futures & Options on the RTS) reached 694 thousand contracts and 5 391 million rubles, compared with 690 thousand contracts and 5 457 million rubles the week before. Total open interest as of October 24th, 2003, equaled 5 629 million rubles and 916 thousand contracts (as of October 17th, 2003, the numbers were 5 727 million rubles and 889 thousand contracts).
