The Commodity Futures Trading Commission's (CFTC's) Office of General Counsel issued a no-action letter on August 30, 2004, permitting the offer and sale in the United States of the Mercato Italiano Dei Derivati’s (“IDEM’s”) futures contracts based on the S&P/MIB Index (“S&P/MIB”)—the S&P/MIB Futures Contract and the miniFutures Contract.

The U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) has completed its seven-month investigation of the sharp upward movement in prices in the natural gas market that occurred in late 2003. The CFTC’s investigation, which was initiated in early December 2003, did not uncover evidence that any entity or individual engaged in activity with an intent to cause an artificial price in natural gas in late 2003. New Market Maker Appointments On Boston Options Exchange

Over the next three weeks, BOX will add nearly 600 new market maker appointments on the existing 249 options classes. The new appointments have been assigned to both the existing 27 BOX Participants which presently act as market makers on BOX plus an additional ten new Participants who are in the process of meeting the requirements to act as BOX Market Makers. These new appointments represent an increase in BOX quoting capacity of roughly 20%.
