Standard & Poor's Announces Changes In S&P/TSX Canadian Indices

Standard & Poor's Canadian Index Operations announces the following index change effective after the close of business on Thursday, October 30, 2003: The relative weight of H&R REIT (TSX:HR.UN - GICS 40401010 Real Estate Investment Trusts) will increase by approximately 0.07% in the S&P/TSX Capped Income Trust Index and by 0.35% in the S&P/TSX Capped REIT Index. The relative weight change reflects an adjustment to the float capitalization of the trust due to the issuance of units.

Japan Securities Settlement & Custody, Inc. (JSSC), a subsidiary of Tokyo Stock Exchange, Inc. (TSE), and China Securities Depository and Clearing Corporation Limited (SD&C) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on October 30, 2003 to establish cooperative ties between the two securities deposit and settlement organizations.

HKFE Announces Revised Margins For Futures Contracts

Hong Kong Futures Exchange Limited (HKFE), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited (HKEx), announced that with effect from the commencement of trading on Monday, 3 November 2003, the minimum margins to be collected by an Exchange Participant from its clients in respect of their dealings in the following futures contracts will be as outlined in the table below. The adjustments are based on the clearing company's normal procedures and standard margining methodology.

Dow Jones Indexes, a leading global index provider, today announced the launch of the Dow Jones Select Dividend Index. The index, which will include 50 stocks derived from the Dow Jones U.S. Total Market Index, a broad market benchmark index that represents approximately 95% of U.S. market capitalization, will be launched on November 3, 2003.

CESR's consultation paper set out today how it proposes to prepare for its new role in the regulation of Asset Management and Unit Collective Investment Schemes (UCITS) in Europe. This also includes establishing how European securities regulators will work until these responsibilities are transferred to CESR from the UCITS Contact Committee established by the Commission and includes specific areas where it proposes to begin work.
