CBOT Precious Metals Volume Rises Above 5,000 Contracts

The Chicago Board of Trade (CBOT®) announced today that on October 14, total volume in the CBOT's precious metals complex, which consists of full-sized and mini-sized Gold and Silver futures, rose to 5,203 contracts. Further, the CBOT's metal complex garnered approximately 7 percent of total volume in U.S. exchange-traded gold and silver futures.

Boston Options Exchange Completes Busiest Week Ever

Average daily volume on BOX for the week was just short of 180,000 contracts, a new record for BOX. The total PIP volume for the October 15 session was 37,929 contracts, a new record for a single session.

UK’s Financial Services Authority Announces Major Progress Towards Streamlining Anti-Money-Laundering Customer Identification

The Financial Services Authority (FSA) has today issued a progress report on the work it has been leading to simplify the UK's customer identification verification (ID) regime for anti-money-laundering (AML) purposes. The report reflects the discussions of the FSA's ID working group, which has representation from all major stakeholders including law enforcement, consumers and the industry.

TSX Group -- Christmas Holiday Closures

Both Toronto Stock Exchange and TSX Venture Exchange will close on 1:00 p.m. EST on Friday, December 24 and will be closed on Monday, December 27 and Tuesday, December 28 in lieu of Christmas and Boxing Day. Both Exchanges will re-open for business on Wednesday, December 29.

Power Outage At Reuters Affects Real-Time Data Feeds To Several S&P Indices

Due to a power outage at Reuters Holdings PLC's technical centre in London, Standard & Poor’s was unable to access real-time market data for several of its indices in Europe, Canada, and the United States for most of Tuesday, October 12th. Power to Reuter’s data feed system was restored for real-time S&P indices to be calculated at the start of trading on Wednesday, October 13th.

NYBOT Announces Spot Cycle Months For U.S. Dollar-Rand Futures To Be Eliminated And November 2004 Futures Contract To Be Delisted

The New York Board of Trade® (NYBOT®) announced today that effective with the close of business today, October 14, an amendment to its rules will be implemented. The effect of the amendment is to remove provisions for Spot Cycle Contract Months in the U.S. Dollar/South African Rand futures contract.
