As part of a general overhaul of its listing structure aimed at improving the visibility and liquidity of small and midcap companies listed on Euronext markets and offering European companies new sources of finance, Euronext today announced the creation of a midcap expert status.

Clearstream Begins 2005 With Further Growth

Clearstream began 2005 with growth in its core businesses and new business streams continuing progress made in 2004. The value of assets held in custody on behalf of customers rose to approximately EUR 7.7 trillion, a rise of 2.5 percent from the same month last year. The number of international transactions processed by Clearstream stood at 1.5 million for January 2005 compared to 1.7 million for the same month last year. CBOT To Launch Ethanol Futures Contract On April 8

The Chicago Board of Trade (CBOT®) announced today that the Exchange will launch a CBOT Denatured Fuel Ethanol futures contract on Friday, April 8, 2005. This new contract is designed to address the growing demand for an effective hedging instrument for domestically produced ethanol.

The DIFC was launched in September 2004, with the announcement that the first three institutions had been registered to operate from the DIFC. The licences were awarded to Swiss Private Bank, Julius Baer, Standard Chartered Bank and the GCC Energy Fund.

In a recent study of the market impact costs of trading, a key measurement of market quality for investors, Toronto Stock Exchange has moved to top spot, as the most-efficient exchange in the world. According to the survey, done for Institutional Investor magazine, by mid-2004 the average Canadian market impact cost had decreased to a world-leading 5.45 basis points.
