International Securities Exchange, Inc. Plans Initial Public Offering

The International Securities Exchange, Inc. (ISE) announced today that it plans to issue shares of its common stock in an underwritten initial public offering. The offering is expected to commence in the second half of 2004, subject to Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) effectiveness and the receipt of all necessary approvals.

Eurex Turns Over 86 Million Contracts In April - Nine Percent Growth On The Previous Year - Robust Development In The Equity Options Segment - Record Results In Nokia Options

Approximately 86 million contracts were traded and cleared by the international derivatives market Eurex in April. This represents an increase of almost nine percent compared to April 2003 (approx. 79 million contracts) for the world’s largest derivatives market, and corresponds to a daily average turnover of 4.3 million contracts.

Dividend Activity Soars Among S&P 500 - Dividend Payers Outperform Non-Payers For Third Month In A Row

Standard & Poor's, the independent financial research, ratings and indices leader today announced an increase in the S&P 500 Indicated Dividend Rate from $18.53 to $19.22, reflecting the increased positive dividend activity among S&P 500 companies this year. The 2004 estimated dividend payment was raised from $19.25 to $19.65.

Deutsche Börse: 24 Percent Rise In Equities Turnover In April - 285 Billion Euros In Overall Turnover On The German Stock Exchanges

The equities turnover has risen significantly in April: The order-book statistics, which are based on single counting of all transactions in the order book of Xetra and broker-supported trading on the floor, show that a total of 89.4 billion euros in equities volume was traded on the German stock exchanges - 24 percent higher than the year before. Of this total, 82 billion euros was traded in German equities, and 7.4 billion euros in foreign equities.

Chicago Mercantile Exchange Inc. (CME), the largest U.S. futures exchange, today reported its second consecutive month of record activity as average daily volume in April totaled 3.3 million contracts per day, up 44 percent compared to April 2003. Volume on GLOBEX®, CME’s electronic trading platform, averaged a monthly record of 1.6 million contracts per day in April 2004, up 62 percent compared to the same period last year.

CFTC Seeks Public Comment On Clearing Corporation Proposal To Clear Eurex Transactions

The Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) has published for public comment a request from The Clearing Corporation (TCC) to permit implementation of the first phase of a Global Clearing Link between TCC and Eurex Clearing AG. According to the request, U.S. customers would be able, upon implementation of this first phase, to clear through TCC clearing members futures and options traded on Eurex Frankfurt AG based on the German Bund, Bobl, and Schatz, as well as on the DAX and Dow Jones Euro

CBOE April Volume Rises 39%, Year-To-Date Volume Up 46% - CBOE Futures Exchange Makes Strong Debut

The Chicago Board Options Exchange (CBOE), the world's largest options exchange, announced today that April volume totaled 31,678,263 contracts traded, an increase of 39% over the April 2003 volume of 22,772,736 contracts. This was the eighth consecutive month that CBOE registered volume gains over year-ago levels. Through the end of April, CBOE's year-to-date volume of 126,269,989 contracts traded is 46% ahead of 2003's pace of 86,535,081 contracts.

In last week’s commentary we stated that the momentum was slowing in the rise of the market. This week proved us wrong with the DCI up 1.8% on last week’s close with good price discovery, driven higher by heavyweights Sechaba, BIHL and FNBB. Topping the week’s gainers was Sechaba which gained 7% to a new high of P12.34 on 3,210 shares.
