HKEx: Survey Shows That Retail Investors Near One Million And Stock Investors Trade More Frequently

A survey conducted by Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited (HKEx) in December 2003 revealed that the number of Hong Kong retail investors investing in stocks and/or derivatives traded on HKEx is close to one million and stock investors traded twice as frequently in 2003 as in 2002.

HKEx: Change Of Designated Securities For Short Selling

The Stock Exchange of Hong Kong Limited, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited (HKEx), announces that with effect from 7 April 2004 (Wednesday), Semiconductor Manufacturing International Corporation, or SMIC (Stock Code: 981) will be added to the list of designated securities eligible for short selling.

HKEx Introduces DCASS Today

Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited (HKEx) introduced the Derivatives Clearing and Settlement System (DCASS) today (Tuesday), following successful conversion to DCASS from the Traded Options System (TOPS) and the INTRACS/400 system on Saturday, 3 April and Sunday, 4 April.

Committee Of European Securities Regulators Launches A Consultation On CESR's Role At Level 3 Under The Lamfalussy Process

CESR launches discussion to establish how regulators can fully play their part in ensuring firstly, that there is greater consistency across Europe in the process of implementation (where CESR Members contribute towards the local transposition of European financial services legislation in their Member States), and secondly, to ensure greater EU-wide convergence through the application of this legislation (that is undertaken on a day-to-day basis through the exercise of their supervisory tasks).

CFTC Proposes Changes To Requirements For Foreign Futures Firms

The Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) is proposing amendments to Part 30 of its rules to clarify previous interpretative statements and no-action letters. The proposed amendments would affect foreign futures and options brokers (FFOBs); generally that is, non-U.S. firms that engage in transactions on non-U.S. markets on behalf of persons located in the U.S. This is a reproposal of rules first published in 1999.
