New York Attorney General Eliot Spitzer: Kaplan Brokers Plead Guilty To Late Trading - AG, SEC Continue Coordination Of Mutual Fund Industry Probe

Attorney General Eliot Spitzer said today that two executives of a Florida-based investment company have pleaded guilty to state criminal charges in connection with the ongoing investigation of illegal trading practices in the mutual fund industry. In a related development, the Securities & Exchange Commission (SEC) announced a civil action against the pair.

National Stock Exchange(SM) Shatters Annual Records In 2004: Number Of Trades More Than Doubles And Share Volume Soars 81 Percent From 2003 Record Levels

National Stock Exchange (NSX(SM)) today announced that both total trades and share volume in 2004 reached the highest annual level in the Exchange's 120-year history. NSX posted a record-breaking 301.3 million trades in 2004, up 107 percent from the previous annual record of 145.6 million set in 2003. Share volume in 2004 of 124.4 billion surged 81 percent from 2003's record 68.9 billion.

CME Eurodollar Futures Set New Open Interest Record

CME, the largest U.S. futures exchange, set a new open interest record yesterday for the world’s most actively traded futures contract, CME Eurodollar futures. Open interest of 7,081,570 broke the previous record of 7,066,935 set on December 9, 2004. Open interest reflects the total number of contracts that have not yet been offset or fulfilled for delivery.
