HKEx Sets Date For SDNet Phase I Rollout

Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited (HKEx) today announces that the construction and implementation of the SDNet, the next generation network for its securities and derivatives markets, has been completed according to plan. Following the successful completion of various tests, including market rehearsals, and the approval of the required rule changes by the Securities and Futures Commission, SDNet is ready for production use.

CME, the largest U.S. futures exchange, today reported that volume for the third quarter averaged 4.2 million contracts per day, up 30 percent from the same period a year ago. Total volume was above 267 million contracts for the quarter. Average daily volume on the CME(R) Globex(R) electronic trading platform was 2.9 million contracts, a 45 percent increase from third-quarter 2004. CBOT Quarterly Average Daily Volume Climbs 9.1 Percent For A New Third Quarter Record - CBOT Gold Futures Experiences Strong Momentum In September Hitting A Monthly Volume Record Of More Than 70,000 Contracts.

The Chicago Board of Trade (CBOT) announced today that Exchange-wide average daily volume climbed to a new high for the third quarter. Quarterly average daily volume rose to 2,581,561 contracts in the quarter ending September 30, up 9.1 percent from the same period last year. Total Exchange volume in the quarter also reached a record of 165,219,891 contracts, up 9.1 percent over the same period in 2004.

CBOT Implements 22 Hour Trading Day

The CBOT will implement a 22 Hour trading day on its electronic platform on October 9. The expansion of trading hours is in response to global demand for additional trading opportunities at the Exchange. This enhancement will make CBOT products available to electronic market users for an additional hour each day.

CBOT & SFE Sign Licensing Agreement to List Contracts on SFE

The Chicago Board of Trade (CBOT®) today announced that the Exchange signed a licensing agreement with the Sydney Futures Exchange (SFE) to launch 1-Day Options products based on two CBOT futures contracts, CBOT mini-sized DOWSM and CBOT 100 oz. Gold futures. This initiative is a result of a joint Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the two exchanges signed in October 2004.
