The Chicago Board Options Exchange (CBOE) announced today that reported trading volume on Wednesday, May 17, topped the five million contract mark for the third time this year. Today's reported volume of 5,200,488 contracts traded, ranks as the third busiest day in CBOE history.

Actively managed mutual funds in the Canadian and U.S. equity categories lagged their respective benchmarks (the S&P/TSX Composite Index and S&P 500 Index) in the first quarter of 2006, Standard & Poor’s said today. According to the Standard & Poor’s Indices Versus Active Funds Scorecard (SPIVA) for Canada, the S&P/TSX Composite Index outperformed 69.8% of actively managed Canadian equity funds through March, while the S&P 500 Index (measured in Canadian dollars) outperformed 61.4% of U.S. equit

UK's Financial Services & Markets Tribunal Decision - Paul Davidson & Ashley Tatham

The Financial Services & Markets Tribunal has reached its judgment in respect of the Financial Service Authority's (FSA) case against Mr Davidson and Mr Tatham. The FSA received the tribunal's decision late this afternoon. It is a long and complicated judgment which is currently being studied by the FSA. If necessary the FSA will comment subsequently on the decision.

Standard & Poor’s will make the following changes in the S&P/MIB Index, effective at the open of business, Friday 19 May 2006: Tenaris, (Italy, ISIN LU0156801721) will replace Banca Nazionale del Lavoro (Italy, ISIN IT0001254884) in the S&P/MIB Index, following the results of the Public Tender Offer launched on Banca Nazionale del Lavoro ordinary shares.
