Thank you to the conference organizers for inviting me to speak today. I have attended this conference several times and I'm honored to be on the program this year. Today, I will speak on the U.S. economic outlook and the implications for monetary policy. I will focus my comments on two issues: first, the effects of tariffs on inflation persistence, and second, the divergence of household inflation expectations and financial market measures of inflation expectations.

The Amman Stock Exchange Receives A Delegation From Hashemite University

On Wednesday 28/05/2025, the Amman Stock Exchange (ASE) received a student delegation from the Faculty of Business at Hashemite University as part of a field visit to the Jordanian capital market institutions (Jordan Securities Commission, Amman Stock Exchange, Securities Depository Center), with the aim of reviewing the trading mechanism at the ASE, and learning about the nature of the work of the market institution and the latest legislative and regulatory developments witnessed by the capital market sector. The CEO of the ASE, Mazen Wathaifi, welcomed the delegation, stressing that the ASE seeks to strengthen its partnership with universities and enhance awareness, knowledge and culture in everything related to the national capital market and link the theoretical aspect with the practical aspect.

Federal Reserve Board Releases Results Of Survey Of Senior Financial Officers At Banks About Their Strategies And Practices For Managing Reserve Balances

The Federal Reserve Board on Friday released results of a survey of senior financial officers at banks about their strategies and practices for managing reserve balances. The Senior Financial Officer Survey is used by the Board to obtain information about banks' reserve balance management strategies and practices, their expectations for potential changes in both the size and composition of their balance sheets, their deposit pricing strategies, and their views regarding Federal Reserve facilities. The most recent survey was conducted in collaboration with the Federal Reserve Bank of New York between March 21 2025, and March 31, 2025, and includes responses from banks that held around three-fourths of total banking system reserve balances at the time of the survey.
