Eris And R.J. O'Brien Fixed Income Group Release Second Hedge Accounting Paper - Newest Case Study Illustrates How To Successfully Obtain Fair Value Hedge Accounting Treatment When Using Eris Swap Futures

Eris Exchange (Eris) and an institutional fixed income brokerage group at R.J. O'Brien & Associates(RJO), the nation's oldest and largest independent futures brokerage and clearing firm, today released another third-party accounting case study outlining how Eris Interest Rate Swap Futures can receive the same favorable hedge accounting treatment as that applied to over-the-counter (OTC) swaps. Following up on the case study released last month addressing cash flow hedge treatment, the RJO Fixed Income Group commissioned the latest study, concluding that Eris Swap Futures may successfully receive fair value hedge accounting treatment and providing a concrete example of how to achieve hedge effectiveness.

Bank Of England Consultation On Restoring The Deposit Protection Limit To £85,000

The Bank of England is consulting on plans to restore the limit of protection provided by the Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS) to deposits with firms authorised by the Prudential Regulation Authority (PRA) to £85,000. The protection limit is currently £75,000. It would be raised from 30 January 2017, but firms would have until 30 June 2017 to implement the necessary changes to systems and materials.

Hong Kong's Securities And Futures Commission Bans Benedict Ku Ka Tat For One Year And Fines Him $150,000

The Securities and Futures Commission (SFC) has prohibited Mr Benedict Ku Ka Tat, a former employee of The Pride Fund Management Limited, from re-entering the industry for one year from 18 November 2016 to 17 November 2017 and fined him $150,000 for failings relating to his sale of a fund to a client (Note 1).

Thomson Reuters Named Benchmark Administrator & Calculation Agent For The Saudi Arabian Interbank Offer Rate (SAIBOR)

Thomson Reuters announced today that it was selected as benchmark administrator and calculation agent for the Saudi Arabian Interbank Offer Rate (SAIBOR). The appointment is part of an agreement with the Saudi Arabian banking industry. The arrangement is authorised by the Saudi Arabian Monetary Authority (SAMA), as part of its regulatory mandate over the banking sector, where this initiative will enhance the governance process for setting SAIBOR and will bring further transparency and reliability to the process.
